About Circle of Riffs
Free guitar learning tools built by a guitarist who spent 25 years wishing they existed.
The gap we're filling
Tens of millions of guitarists learned from tabs and YouTube. They can play real songs but don't know the note names on the fretboard, can't improvise because they don't know what they're playing, and feel locked out of music theory.
Every interactive tool online is either too gamified for experienced players (Yousician), a static SVG with no practical guidance (circle of fifths posters), or buried behind a paywall before you can even try it.
Circle of Riffs builds the tools that meet confident tab readers where they are and say: "Let me show you what you're already playing."
The tools
Fretboard Lab
Interactive fretboard with explore mode, note drills, and scale views across all 12 keys. Built for the guitarist who learned from tabs and wants to actually understand the neck.
Riff Wheel
An interactive circle of fifths that answers the real question: "I'm playing in E major — what chords work?" Tap a key and see every diatonic chord with Roman numeral analysis.
Ear Training
Interactive ear training course for guitar. Learn to identify intervals and chords by ear through progressive lessons with audio demos, guided practice, and quizzes.
Who's building this
I've been playing guitar for 25 years — every day, self-taught, with theory knowledge picked up along the way.
Circle of Riffs is a solo project — I design, build, and maintain everything. The tools are free because I believe every guitarist should have access to interactive learning without hitting a paywall on day one.
I'm also building a YouTube channel alongside these tools. Every video links back here, and the tools make the concepts in the videos hands-on.

Circle of Riffs on YouTube
Guitar tutorials, theory breakdowns, and the stories behind the riffs. Every video ties back to the interactive tools on this site.
